Do birthdays ever slow down?

A friend of mine is turning 50 soon and confided this morning that it might be bothering her more than she ever thought it would.
She asked me if it bothered me when I reached that milestone and I thought back to the day when I turned 50. My hubs totally surprised me (with the help of a few of my friends who love to scheme and you know who you are!)

He was working in Wichita KS for weeks at a time and planned a surprise birthday party for me while he was away.
A clubhouse was rented and decorated to the hilt, a couple of friends invited us out for dinner at a restaurant called Jeremiah Johnsons. I rate a restaurant on a couple things: the bathrooms - and then the food & service. If they have all of these things, they are tops in my book - and Jeremiah Johnson's had the coolest bathrooms I've ever seen.

I don't know how many folks were at my party but it was an awesome mixture of co-workers, family and friends from church and kids that were in our youth group that I had the privilege of being a part of their life and watching them grow up and it was perfect!
I was so shocked and overjoyed ... I think a gazillion kids dog piled me at the door when I came in! It was the best ♥

Oh, then I went home and saw what was waiting for me in the front yard, compliments of some of my closest teenage friends - lol!!!
You aren't seeing things... that is a mile of string and yarn intertwined with black balloons and about 5 packages of plastic forks, spoons and knives.
One year, a neighborhood kids trike even wound up in the middle of the maze! Man, now that was funny!

Tomorrow, I turn 55 - but I think it's gonna be real hard to top this one :)
OH, and for the record... yes, it bothered me a little more than I cared to admit at the time that I finally reached 50. This morning I jokingly told her that although she might start getting literature in the mail from the AARP, I get the Senior Discount at Denny's!! Oh, happy day - it doesn't get any better than this! ♥
